Finally released from his parchment prison, Lord of the blue moon is a dragon born in a time before all others, the oldest of my dragons. An ancient power of awareness and balance, a guardian of the elements, a beholder of wisdom.
To express the idea of age, I wanted to design him around old torn parchment paper (something I've enjoyed using for other pictures, too - including 'Mechanagon' which is now released, too). So, out came the sketch pad to stitch together the general idea...
Creating rips, creases, tears and folds in paper without actually doing so is fun - have a go yourself!
The majestic dragon was then created to weave in and out of the parchment paper adding in some punctures around his tail and wings…
I loved designing him, selecting his colours and turning him into a proud ancient and all-powerful, overseeing Dragon. The combination of blues, pale yellows and rustic oranges is almost always a pleasing one to the eye. Then setting the old parchment against a textured dark background to give it some contrast.
So, if you'd like a lord of dragons to offer his elemental protection, while hanging proudly on your wall, he's now ready and waiting!
Lord of The Blue Moon is now available in various print sizes including the option of purchasing mounts and frames:
