"Dragons of Astrologica - Libra" was one of my earlier pieces of artwork, which fits in with an important element of the zodiac sign of Libra relates to...
...the balancing scales...
Many of us spend so much of life running around chasing our [dragon]tails in a bit of a rat-race of a system, that it becomes all too easy to stop feeding our artistic sides.
For me creating art (alongside teaching piano) out of some ideas floating dreamily in my head, combined with the desire to enjoy improving some basic drawing and painting skills, has given me a great deal of much-needed balance in life over the last few years.
"Dragons of Astrologica Libra" itself was an artwork I really wanted to try out the swirly, inky background technique. So you'll see plenty of Indian ink blues setting the stage for the two dragons...
Pink is a colour connected with Libra, so mixing that with purples throughout the dragon wings and Libra's sign seemed the right way to go...
Finally, with the vibrant blue/white swirling cloud-like background, it was fitting to use yellows and rustic orange for the scales themselves, as if some of the sun was shining through to them...
So there's my Libra dragons - just in time for their zodiac month form September's tail end (23rd) through most of October (22nd).
But more importantly, if you haven't done so already, think about putting time aside, from this moment, on into your creative side: whatever that might be...from my own experience, it will pay you back in some very special ways that you won't easily get from anywhere else!
